Dementia and Caregiver Therapy Services

Emerald Green Therapy is a boutique, private-pay therapy practice specializing in dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and caregiver support. Services are designed to address the complex emotional, relational, and practical challenges that arise with cognitive change and neurodegenerative illness.

My work integrates clinical expertise, caregiver education, and family systems support to provide high-touch, specialized care for individuals and families navigating dementia.

Individual Therapy for People Impacted by Dementia and Caregivers

Individual therapy is available for people living with dementia, caregivers, and family members experiencing stress, grief, anxiety, and major life transitions. Sessions are tailored to the unique emotional and practical challenges associated with cognitive impairment and caregiving.

Common areas of focus include:

  • Caregiver stress and burnout

  • Adjustment to diagnosis and disease progression

  • Anticipatory grief and loss

  • Anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation

  • Identity changes and role transitions

  • Coping with uncertainty and long-term care planning

Dyadic Therapy for Care Partners and Families

Dyadic therapy is designed for care partners, spouses, and adult children supporting a loved one with dementia. These sessions focus on strengthening communication, navigating caregiving roles, and addressing relational strain that often accompanies neurodegenerative illness.

Areas of focus may include:

  • Care partner communication and conflict resolution

  • Navigating decision-making and shared responsibilities

  • Emotional support for care partners as well as education on dementia-related behavioral and emotional changes

Family Therapy and Care Planning for Dementia

Family therapy sessions provide structured support for families navigating dementia-related challenges, including care transitions, safety concerns, and long-term planning. These sessions may include multiple family members and focus on aligning goals, improving communication, and supporting collaborative decision-making.

Common topics include:

  • Care planning and transitions (home care, memory care, assisted living)

  • Family communication and boundary setting

  • Managing behavioral symptoms and safety concerns

  • Navigating family dynamics, conflict, and grief

Brief Consultation and Check-In Sessions (25 Minutes)

Brief consultation sessions are available for established clients who benefit from targeted support, check-ins, or focused problem-solving. These sessions are ideal for caregivers needing quick guidance or reinforcement of coping strategies between full sessions.

Therapy Intensives and Extended Family Consultations

Therapy intensives offer extended, high-touch sessions for individuals and families requiring focused guidance and care planning in a condensed timeframe. Intensives are particularly helpful during periods of crisis, major transitions, or complex decision-making.

Intensive sessions may include:

  • Comprehensive caregiver and family consultation

  • Care planning and resource navigation

  • Crisis support and stabilization planning

  • Education on dementia progression and behavioral management

  • Coordination with medical providers (with consent)

Intensive sessions are available in 90, 120, and 180-minute formats.
